Salary range (but not limited to):

94,200 - 115,200

Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance):

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.


About the role

We are looking for a Unit Claims Manager – Surveillance, Investigative Services Unit (ISU) to join our team!

You will oversee the operations of the Ontario In-House Surveillance team. This team is part of the National ISU but will support other departments as required, including Casualty and Accident Benefits. You will provide expertise and leadership to ensure efficient and effective work processes and quality service while ensuring continuous improvement.

What you'll do here:

  • Provide leadership and manage the operations of the Ontario in-house Surveillance Investigations team.
  • Develop, support and focus on leading an engaged team.
  • Review Investigation files and act in a consultative and advisory capacity on claims matters and technical issues that may include investigation, policy interpretation, settlement negotiation.
  • Provide effective leadership, motivate staff and be responsible for hiring employees and delivering performance feedback.
  • Demonstrate your analytical acumen, decision-making skills and develop structured action plans to move investigations forward.
  • Work closely with the other Unit Claims Managers and employees in the Investigation Services Unit and other departments, including Casualty and Accident Benefits.
  • Review the work and final products of your team; provide coaching, feedback and/or training as required.
  • Oversee schedules, manage productivity and ensure Service Level Agreements are met.
  • Conduct audits to ensure adherence with quality standards.
  • Collaborate with leadership nationally to facilitate optimization and alignment of best practices.
  • Provide coaching on technical and professional skills for your team and facilitate continuous learning by building robust development plans for your employees.
  • Lead and execute cross-functional projects that align with and advance key business objectives.


What you bring to the table:

  • University degree or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role.
  • 1+ years in a management role is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to motivate, develop and coach staff.
  • Flexible daily work schedules as the expectations may be outside of regular business hours on occasion.
  • Investigation or Loss Prevention experience preferred.
  • Experience in adjusting P&C Insurance claims is an asset.
  • Investigation experience and familiarity with fraud trends is an asset.
  • Familiarity with more than one line of business (AB, BI, Property, Auto) is an asset.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail when managing policy, legal and regulatory interpretation and implementation.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to build relationships with all levels of staff.
  • A sense of urgency in your work while multitasking, prioritizing tasks and effortlessly shifting priorities.
  • The independent ability to manage remote employees and drive business results.
  • Commitment toward ongoing self-development.
  • Completed or working toward a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation is an asset.
