Salary range (but not limited to):
69,200 - 84,600Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance):

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.
About the role
We’re looking for an Underwriter II, Commercial Lines P&C to join our growing team!
This permanent position is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 2 days per week working in our 700 University Ave, Toronto, ON office.
What you'll do here:
Assess, evaluate and negotiate on moderate to complex risks.
Apply effective pricing and underwriting strategies in accordance with the company guidelines and personal underwriting authority limits.
Within your level of authority, quote, negotiate, sell, and authorize the acceptance of moderate to complex new business, renewals, and endorsements to develop and retain profitable business according to the business plan established for the department.
Participate in broker visits, insurance industry functions and marketing events in support of broker relationship development.
Arrange reinsurance if and when required.
Handle inquiries through a phone queue and nurture business relationships with brokers through visits, discussions, and correspondence.
Use the computer system for policy inquiry, electronic filing, underwriting and rating transactions.
Make recommendations to improve the department and increase its efficiency.
Foster cooperative broker relationships to identify and develop sales opportunities.
Some travel is required.
What you bring to the table:
Minimum 3 years of Commercial Lines Underwriting experience required
Candidates with prior P&C underwriting experience will be prioritized
Completion of CIP designation (or progress towards) is an asset
Strong track record of developing, mentoring and coaching teammates
Can develop and maintain excellent relationships with brokers
Great communication skills (both written and verbal)
Strong negotiating skills and business savvy
Experienced in analyzing data and handling technical tasks
Initiative and can work under pressure
Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products and computer tools
No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
