About the role
Our growing team is looking for a Technical Product Owner!
As a Technical Product Owner – Pricing and Underwriting, you will be responsible for defining and managing the features of our technology products. You will work closely with the Director of Software Engineering, development teams, stakeholders, and end-users to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions that meet market needs and company objectives. You will represent the Pricing and Underwriting software development team to other technical teams and business units.
What you'll do here:
Collaborate with the manager to define the product vision and establish the roadmap in partnership with stakeholders.
Gather and analyze user needs and translate them into clear technical requirements.
Participate in estimating requests.
Prioritize the product backlog based on value, technical constraints, and delivery priorities.
Collaborate with development teams to define user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical specifications.
Participate and/or lead Agile/Scrum ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, refinements, etc.).
Maintain constant communication with stakeholders to align expectations and provide regular updates on request progress.
Conduct/supervise acceptance testing and validate deliverables before release.
Monitor product performance and gather user feedback for continuous improvements.
Keep abreast of industry trends to ensure security posture and manage application and service obsolescence.
What you bring to the table:
Required Skills:
Proven experience as a Technical Product Owner, Scrum Master, or Team Lead, ideally in a technical or software development environment.
Experience in insurance, specifically in Pricing and Underwriting.
Ability to effectively prioritize tasks.
Practical knowledge of Agile/Scrum/Scrumban methodologies.
Ability to understand and translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to work in a team and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Proficiency in collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Teams.
Expertise in presentations and workshop facilitation.
Bilingualism (French and English) – Need to interact on a regular basis with colleagues across the country.
No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
Qualifications:
Degree in computer science, engineering, project management, or a related field.
Experience as a Product Owner or in a similar role (IT-BA).
Product Owner certification (CSPO, PSPO) is a plus.
