About the role
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Control Officer (PCO) to join our dynamic IT project management team.
The successful candidate will play an essential role in ensuring the effective delivery of IT projects through strong project controls. They will be responsible for the financial oversight of projects, supporting project and program managers in planning and follow-up, and offering alternative solutions when necessary. The role includes collaborating with managers on budgeting and forecasting (both financial and resource-based) and managing the overall project management environment within the company's direction. The Senior PCO typically manages several projects at once and is expected to handle small request management independently. They will also coordinate activities required for forecasting multiple projects.
What you'll do here:
Project Planning and Scheduling
Support the creation and updating of project schedules. Assist in organizing project meetings and maintaining action logs.
Quality Control & Assurance
Ensure the quality and accuracy of all project artifacts, and verify that all documents are current and complete. Monitor compliance with governance rules and assist the PM in maintaining project documentation, status reports, risk registers, and issue logs.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
Track project progress relative to planned milestones and deliverables. Consolidate project metrics and KPIs and assist the PM in preparing status reports and presentations.
Budget and Cost Control
Monitor project costs and assist with budget tracking. Reconcile monthly financial reports and vendor invoices by their deadlines. Identify and analyze discrepancies between estimated, actual, and forecasted costs.
Change Requests
Support change control processes and documentation efforts.
Risk Management
Proactively identify, track, and escalate risks or issues. Work with teams to develop mitigation plans and resolve blockers.
What you bring to the table:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in project control, project management, or a related role in IT projects.
Strong proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., Clarity, JIRA, etc.).
Experience with Power BI, including the ability to develop reports and analytics.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
PMP, PRINCE2, or similar certification is a plus.
For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
