Salary range (but not limited to):

94,200 - 115,200

Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance):

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.


About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Human Resource Consultant to join our national HR Claims Team to support our Claims Western region based in Calgary.

Based on the experience, skills and qualifications of the selected candidates, we are open to different job level: Consultant, Human Resources, Senior Consultant, Human Resources or a Senior Business Partner, Human Resources.

In this role, you will provide strategic consulting and coaching to executives and leadership teams who manage a team of claims employees who may be customer facing spanned from Victoria to Winnipeg.

Reporting directly to the Human Resources Manager, Claims Western region (located in Calgary), you will be a member of a national HR team and will contribute equally as a team member and an individual by providing strategic HR solutions to your business partners. In this position, you will also have an opportunity to be involved in project work and presentations where you will mentor fellow HR colleagues.  This is truly a unique and exciting opportunity for an HR professional who would like to take their consulting knowledge and expertise to the next level in the largest line of business at Intact!

Here are a few ways you'll make a difference:

  • Provide professional strategic consultation and coaching on human resources policies, processes, and programs to designated business partners.

  • Actively participate in executive and management meetings with Western Claims business partners and ensure all decisions and practices align with our business strategies and values and are legally and ethically sound.

  • Facilitate and conduct investigations related to employee relation issues through discovery meetings with managers and employees to provide ongoing consultation and coaching towards a resolution that makes sense for all parties involved.

  • Actively partner with the business in the development, implementation, and follow up of employee engagement action plans and play a key role in our ongoing organizational transformation.

  • Provide coaching to business partners to promote effective leadership attributes and practices.

  • Play a key role in organizational transformations, anticipate issues and propose approaches to encourage support for effective change management.

  • Work with business partners to identify talent management strategies that drive the retention, development, and progression of individuals to create high performing and engaged teams.

  • Lead or participate in national and/or strategic HR projects that contribute to our ongoing organizational transformation and HR process improvement.

  • Lead, develop and facilitate workshops, round tables and information sessions for managers and/or employees.

  • Conduct needs analysis and assists leaders with their workforce planning needs.

What you bring to the table:

  • University degree in Industrial Relations or Human Resources Management or a combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Minimum 8-10 years of related experience as a senior HR Consultant (HRC), HR Business Partner (HRBP) or as a generalist in human resources in a non-unionized environment.

  • CHRP and/or CHRL designation.

  • Technical, up-to-date expertise in Human Resources and employment legislation.

  • Knowledge in all areas of human resources including talent management, performance management and employee relations, disability management, change management, engagement, compensation, organizational development, workforce planning and succession planning.

  • Proven ability to quickly establish and cultivate effective working relationships with business partners at all levels of the organization and influence their decision as necessary.

  • A flexible, agile, and resilient approach to working in a dynamic ever-changing, fast-paced work environment.

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Proven track record of critical and strategic thinking to solve operational and / or complex problems.

  • Strong knowledge of digital tools such as the use of Microsoft Suite to work effectively in a virtual environment.

  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
