About the role

We are seeking an expert in writing and storytelling to bring creativity and precision to our communications. This position is based at our Atlantic or Montreal offices. In this role, you will contribute to defining the annual communication plan for Intact Insurance senior executives nationwide and will be responsible for assisting them in executing this plan. You will create engaging messages for our internal teams and brokers to help strengthen our B2B brand. We value stories as a means to enrich the relationships we have with brokers, their clients, and our employees. Your ability to weave a captivating narrative and detail tactically, considering every audience for which you create an experience, will be highly valued.

You will design end-to-end multiplatform content. This may include written, video, and audio content across various platforms and for different audiences (external, internal). You will also play a key role in helping our senior leadership convey our message effectively on various occasions. A candidate with strong experience in communication or journalism would be well-suited for this role.

What you’ll do here:

  • Quickly develop a solid understanding of the company and translate strategy into meaningful and engaging communications.

  • Develop strategic communication plans and associated initiatives from start to finish.

  • Assess the needs of each project, secure buy-in, implement the plan, and measure impact.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to build strong relationships with internal business partners and colleagues at all levels.

  • Understand what makes a good story: a catchy element, authenticity, details, and a strong call to action.

  • Demonstrate a keen sense of the relevance of information (what makes a story captivating from the audience's perspective).

  • Exhibit exceptional writing skills and understanding of journalistic writing techniques.

  • Assist senior leadership in effectively conveying our message on various occasions.

  • Work closely with other communications and event advisors on the team to ensure strong cohesion between the national plan and regional plans, which must align with and support the national narrative.

What you bring to the table:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in journalism or communications.

  • Degree in communication, marketing, or journalism.

  • Strong ability to understand complex strategies and issues and create clear and effective messages.

  • Experience in creating strategic communication plans (from research to measurement and evaluation) and designing specific content strategies to achieve organizational objectives.

  • Experience in developing editorial calendars and repurposing stories across multiple platforms.

  • Experience in using personas to create targeted messages and stories that inspire action.

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Proven ability to deliver creative or strategic work on time and manage multiple projects and expectations simultaneously.

  • Proven ability to create alignment among multiple stakeholders.

  • Bilingualism (French / English) - Need to interact on a regular basis with colleagues across the country.

  • No Canadian work experience required, but must have authorization to work in Canada.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Share Intact's story in a captivating and engaging manner with multiple audiences, on any platform, to inspire action.

  • Imagine and help implement an "always-on" communication plan that weaves a coherent narrative across multiple platforms and audiences (external, internal).

  • Build strong relationships with internal business partners and colleagues throughout the organization and be recognized for the ability to tell a captivating story.

  • Embody Intact’s values and leadership success factors and serve as a role model for others.
