About the role

We are looking for a Product Owner to join our growing team!

Workplace: Any of our offices in Ontario, West and Nova Scotia.

Reporting to the Unit Manager, National Projects (Commercial Lines National Operations and Planning), We are looking for a product owner who is familiar with the insurance industry and who has experience in the Agile approach. As the PO, the incumbent will work on the National Contact CL project.  The focus will be to build strong relationships with multiple business teams and with IT in order to properly manage a national business backlog of priorities.

What you'll do here:

  • Define the MVP and strategy to roll-out the vision.

  • Collaborate with the team to define the product vision.

  • Understand the objectives of the product and the problems it's solving.

  • Convey the vision and goals to the team.

  • Manage the product backlog (creating stories, prioritizing development stories and technical debt based on business priority/scope, etc.).

  • Communicate progress and deadlines.

  • Understand customer needs and how the product fits in.

  • Defines KPIs and objectives for the product and through data analytics and feedback, ensures business objectives and targets are met.

  • Mitigates risk by raising concerns to the management team regarding product quality and proposes actions to mitigate the risk.

  • Guides the activities of team members in an effective and efficient way to achieve success of a project or deliverable.

  • Acts as a positive change agent by supporting and influencing others to adopt new approaches.

  • Coaches others to systematically and logically to resolve problems, identify causation and anticipate expected results.

  • Works effectively and cooperatively with others; actively participates towards the completion of goals; establishes and maintains good working relationships with others.

  • Convey ideas logically and simply, actively participating in meetings and makes a conscious effort to understand what people are really saying.

  • Coaches others to adapt to and work in an environment constantly. in motion and evolving; comfortable with ambiguity and performs well under stress.

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of education & relevant experience will be considered.

  • Typically requires between 5 and 8 years of experience.

  • Commercial lines Insurance (P & C) Knowledge required.

  • CBAP certification an asset.

  • Exposure to large scale or national projects.

  • Planning methodology and relevant experience and proven knowledge of Agile methodology.

  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel and Power Point

  • Knowledgeable about the application development cycle, especially when defining requirements/Stories and good understanding of the testing strategy.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects in teams or in a matrix environment (multitasking).

  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
