About the role

We’re looking for a Manager, AI Governance to join our Lab team and make a difference! 

Intact Financial Corporation is on a mission to be the best AI shop in insurance, and we are looking for a Manager of AI Governance to play a pivotal role in this journey. In this role, you will be responsible for helping implement the company's AI governance framework to ensure the responsible, ethical, and compliant use of AI technologies across our global operations. You will be a key leader in nurturing our organization's approach to responsible AI innovation, championing the integration of ethical standards and building trustworthy AI solutions. This role is critical to building and maintaining trust with our customers, regulators, and stakeholders as we continue to leverage AI to transform the insurance industry.

This role reports to the Director, AI Governance.

What you'll do here:

  • Lead a multidisciplinary team on the operational execution of a responsible AI (RAI) framework, including intake and initial risk assessments for AI initiatives, and coordinate assignment of resources or predefined governance patterns to ensure consistent compliance and delivery.

  • Establish and manage relationships with US and UK governance bodies to align AI practices with regional regulatory expectations and industry standards.

  • Serve as the primary liaison with internal audit, ensuring audit readiness, evidence traceability, remediation tracking, and continuous improvement of AI governance controls.

  • Working with the Director, AI Governance, engage with external regulators to represent the organization’s AI governance posture, respond to inquiries, and assist with regulatory submissions and examinations.

  • Oversee Model Risk Management for AI and machine learning systems, ensuring frameworks and controls meet expectations from federal and provincial regulators.

  • Coordinate regulatory surveys and related reporting, partnering closely with technical teams to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with enterprise risk policies.

  • Own and maintain the enterprise inventory of AI systems, ensuring comprehensive documentation, lifecycle tracking, risk classification, and controls.

  • Build and operate the GenAI observability service, developing analytics practices to monitor and report on security, legal, and business risks associated with generative AI usage and deployments.

  • Define and manage guardrails for AI development and use, including policy enforcement, access controls, data usage restrictions, and human-in-the-loop requirements.

  • Build and operate the technological GenAI risk management foundations to enable teams build trustworthy AI systems faster. Develop and deliver training programs on RAI policies, procedures, and best practices for product teams, data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders.

  • Provide support to a growing team to ensure IFC develops best-in-class talent.

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Actuarial Sciences, Computer Science, Legal or a related field.

  • Data science enthusiast with a background in a related field, including (but not limited to): machine learning, computer science, software engineering, physics, actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, law and ethics, and global economics.

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in compliance, governance, ethnics or equivalent field of expertise.

  • Strong ability & political sense to influence various level of management.

  • Make strategic decisions independently and collaboratively with others.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.

  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
