Salary for the employee will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented below is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different employee profiles. However, we encourage employees who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.

Salary range (but not limited to):

118,700 - 145,100

Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance):

About the role


We’re looking for a Financial Specialist for our growing private placement team, called the Distribution Financial Strategy (DFS) team.

Context

Intact Financial Corporation (IFC) distributes property and casualty insurance products through brokerage firms in Canada. IFC must ensure a strong and sustainable brokerage network. To do so, the Distribution Financial Strategy team provides financial support to several firms of different sizes through lending and equity investments, in addition to supporting succession planning and sound investment governance.

Your work will strongly influence Intact’s business growth strategy through profitable transactions. You will contribute to the implementation of sound, creative and customized financial solutions that enable distributor development. People will rely on you to contribute to financial analyses and business proposals, deliver financial solutions that reconcile Intact’s strategic business goals and those of its partners, as well as build sustainable business relationships with existing and future partners in the Distribution Financial Solutions (BFS) network. You will also work closely with these partners in their budgeting process and in planning the use of operating funds.


What you’ll do here

  • Actively contribute to executing and advancing DFS’s financial transactions, including business valuation, the modelling of financial agreements, the drafting of relevant transactional memos to obtain necessary approvals, and following up on the drafting of relevant legal documents.

  • Complete, present and monitor dashboards showing the business performance of these partners and their alignment with their strategic planning. 

  • Collect, review and analyze information to support development initiatives and propose recommendations.

  • Support brokers and agents in setting their strategic, financial and operational goals, focusing on performance, growth and profitability indicators.

  • Support team members in the execution of special projects and in their day-to-day responsibilities.

  • Analyze other investment opportunities in businesses that are part of the property and casualty insurance ecosystem.

What you bring to the table

  • A relevant CPA or CFA designation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • More than 8 years of relevant experience and a track record of successfully using your financial expertise for business development.

  • In-depth knowledge of business transactions, M&A, financing, business valuation.

  • Extensive experience in financial analysis combined with general legal knowledge and an understanding of the main tax concepts for companies and individuals.

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite and strong financial modelling skills (Excel and Power BI).

  • Ability to build sound business relationships (internal and external) using strong oral and written communication skills.

  • A passion for excellence in investment (i.e., applying mathematical methods to business issues and designing models to support investing activities, risk management, estimates and credit) and support for investment decisions creating long-term value.

  • Initiative, a desire to learn and understand, and a strong interest in working as part of a team.

  • Good organizational skills, ability to prioritize your work and manage several files at once.

  • Customer- and results-driven, strong sense of ethics.

  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
