About the role

We’re looking for a Field Appraiser to join our growing team and support our Vancouver region.

You will be responsible for inspecting medium-loss sites to generate detailed estimates for the restoration, repair, or replacement of buildings with moderate damage (exceeding $50,000). Additionally, you will occasionally audit the estimates and work completed by contractors and restorers within the Intact network of partners to ensure adherence to established standards and policies. You will also address any complaints related to the quality of work, costs, and restoration methods.

What You'll Do Here:

  • Investigate and assess the cause of loss and calculate detailed costs for restoring damaged buildings.
  • Establish accurate rebuilding costs.
  • Provide technical support to internal and external claims adjusters, ensuring clarity on the estimate outcomes.
  • Participate in negotiations to secure restoration cost agreements with contractors.
  • Occasionally manage customer complaints regarding the quality of repairs and restoration.
  • Regularly follow up with vendors to ensure project timelines are met.
  • Prepare and deliver technical training as part of projects aimed at improving control methods and processes for damaged buildings.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Diploma in building appraisal or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Five or more years of experience in estimate reviewing and writing.
  • Excellent knowledge of Xactimate estimating software.
  • Technical and practical understanding of building restoration.
  • Strong planning and organizational abilities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a customer-oriented mindset.

Salary of the successful candidate will typically be positioned between the following range, taking into consideration a number of factors including prior experience, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, location and internal equity:

$60,200.00 - $90,200.00
