About the role

As a Senior Property Claims Adjuster, you will guide customers who have experienced a loss to their personal property through the claims process from first notice to resolution. Partnering with vendors, field/independent adjusters, and technical experts, you will demonstrate empathy, strong listening skills, business acumen, and organizational excellence while managing a diverse portfolio of complex claims to completion.

What you’ll do here:

  • Analyze facts, interpret policy wordings, determine coverage, and assess damages on residential large-loss files (typically over $100K) and other complex scope/repair claims.
  • Develop and execute action plans to address all aspects of each claim and drive timely progression.
  • Manage financials end to end: establish and adjust reserves and deliver prompt, equitable settlements in line with Intact policies and standards.
  • Provide clear direction and expectations to field/independent adjusters and vendors; review deliverables for quality and timelines.
  • Collaborate with experts (appraisers, engineers, contractors, environmental specialists) to resolve technical issues and maintain file momentum.
  • Deliver superior service to policyholders and internal partners; proactively communicate status, next steps, and rationale.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Intact’s products, estimating tools, appraisal and investigation techniques, building codes, and market conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, documentation standards, and best practices.

What you bring to the table:

  • 5+ years of property claims handling experience, including residential large-loss files; catastrophe experience is an asset.
  • Strong construction knowledge and proficiency with estimating/review (e.g., Xactimate or equivalent); ability to read and challenge scopes and estimates.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and conflict management skills; able to navigate complex coverage and settlement discussions.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a passion for customer service.
  • Highly organized, results-driven, and self-directed; effective in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Adaptable, forward-thinking, and continuous-improvement oriented.
  • Effective in a hybrid work environment; proficient with collaboration and claims systems.
