About the role

We’re looking for a Field Claims Adjuster to join our growing team!

As a Field Claims team member, you’ll be at the heart of what we do best: helping people. You’ll work alongside a passionate and diverse team of claims adjusters who are experts in helping customers get back on track after a loss.

Your compassion and strong skills will make you a valuable asset to our team. You will have the opportunity to participate in and manage engaging investigations involving complex claims and losses across our personal and commercial lines. With over 75 different roles across our Claims Department, you’ll find countless opportunities to grow your career in the direction that inspires you most.

In this role, you will:

  • Evaluate and analyze information gathered, insurance wording and damages to determine coverage in each situation.

  • Assess potential civil liability of the insured and third parties in consultation with specialists.

  • Negotiate settlements with customers, claimants, lawyers and insurers within your authority limits.

  • Handle field assignments on behalf of in-house claims adjusters.

  • Actively participate in claims catastrophes (CATs) and work overflow when required.

  • Collaborate effectively with various teams including appraisal, underwriting and legal services.

  • Ensure effective cost management.

  • Stay informed about current trends in insurance products and appraisal and investigation techniques and services.

What you bring to the table:

  • A valid AMF licence.

  • At least three years of experience as a home claims adjuster (preferably as a field adjuster), with expertise in water and/or fire losses.

  • A passion for customer service and strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and in a constantly changing environment, using a goal-oriented approach.

  • Strong technical aptitudes and excellent computer skills.

  • Solid problem-solving and solution implementation abilities.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.

  • Ability to travel on short notice.

  • Detailed knowledge of insurance products.

  • Bilingualism (French-English), as you will be answering calls and providing services to French-speaking customers on a regular basis.
