Job Description Summary
We want to be a top affinity player and continue to grow our footprint across the country. In the role of Director, Business Development and Affinity at belairdirect you would be responsible for the development of Affinity partnerships and relationship management of the existing Affinity portfolio in Ontario, Alberta and BC.
This role will have responsibility of aligning partnership interests, growth plan execution and pipeline development as well as analyze business opportunities and constraints with each region and execution of a strategy to drive new partnerships and deliver team excellence.
Partnership relationships include Home, Auto, Travel and Group Benefits business.

We’re looking for a Director, Business Development & Affinity, to join our growing team!
We are looking for a strong leader, with excellent relationship skills and communication abilities to join our team. This is a full-time permanent position with preference in Toronto, Ontario, but consideration made to candidates in Edmonton, or Calgary. This position requires frequent travel to partner events and for relationship management.
What you'll do here:
Develop strategies to retain, develop and expand Affinity partnerships by creating a group penetration action plan and a pipeline for signing new Affinity Groups within the Western and Ontario region
Drive the Western and Ontario teams towards excellence and achieve a consistent and sustained level of commitment from our partners achieving quote, premium and profitability growth in Home, Auto and Travel as well as revenue growth within Group Benefits
Ensure the performance and development of the skills of the team and ensure adequate succession.
Develop, implement and monitor the territories detailed growth and profitability plan including execution of specific Group Profitability Improvement Plans (PIPs) when required.
Build relationships with key group executives and be the face of belairdirect with the support of the team within the regions
Collaborate closely with teams across belairdirect including Sales, Operations, Marketing/Communications, Underwriting and actuary to drive success of the Affinity portfolio.
Focus on maximizing product suite offerings across the portfolio to maximize exposure and penetration while focusing on increasing marketing channels and access within large penetrate Groups
Manage and maintain key white label relationships
Establish objectives and implement a detailed growth plan for his or her territory.
Participate in the development of strategies and communicate the vision of the organization in relation to the business plan, growth plan, products and business philosophy to the lead the team and affinity partnerships
Be an ambassador of change by applying best practices in terms of change management (lead by example, get involved, mobilize).
What you bring to the table:
10+ year of Personal Lines (Home & Auto) experience at a Senior level
Travel and Group Benefits experience would be considered a strong asset
Strong people management experience leading by Intact Leadership Success Factors in mentoring, coaching and developing high performing talent, increase engagement and driving change
Excellent strategic communication skills; comfort in presenting to senior management and executive partners
Strong collaboration skills with various stakeholders including driving and executing projects
Outstanding skills in negotiating profitable business and building and development relationships with key partners by a proven track record of identifying and addressing complex problems and making decisions in time sensitive situations
Air travel is a requirement at a minimum on a bi-monthly basis
Availability to attend various activities (cocktail parties, conventions, conferences, partnership meetings etc.) outside of normal business hours
Highly organized with the ability to work under pressure during busy periods
Have a valid class 5 driver's license with good driving record
University degree in Business, Insurance or related field or combination of Education and relevant experience
CIP designation is an asset
