We are currently looking for a Director, Finance – Investment to play an important role in supporting our growth.
Location: Montreal (2020 boul. Robert-Bourassa)
About the role
You will lead all financial activities in support of the investment teams, including the production of financial information, internal and external reports, financial forecasts, and budgets, as well as expenditure control. Your analysis and your understanding of both accounting principles and investments will assist senior management in making strategic investment decisions.
As the leader of a team of professionals, you will ensure the successful execution of month-end, quarter-end and year-end processes, maintain robust internal controls, and play an active role in transforming and centralizing financial information about our investments worldwide.
Responsibilities
Lead a team of about ten professionals, including managers.
Work closely with senior management, particularly the Chief Investment Officer, the Chief Financial Officer, as well as the entire Operational Investment Committee.
Oversee internal financial reporting related to investment results to ensure better decision-making.
Oversee the budget, financial forecasts and expenses of the investment team.
Oversee the financial close process including system feeds, reconciliations, controls, and the review of the results, on a timely basis and with the highest level of quality.
Oversee the publication of external financial information related to investment results, including the financial statements of the Group and the various legal entities, as well as the management report.
Coordinate work with external auditors and the implementation of any accounting standards or significant transactions.
Work closely with other Finance teams (management control, accounting research) to incorporate our investment results into aggregate reports.
Continuously strive for improvement, automation and integration with various financial systems.
Contribute to special projects, including acquisitions.
Qualifications
CPA and/or CFA designation, an asset.
Over ten years of relevant experience, including five years in management.
Ability to learn quickly and manage multiple priorities.
Leadership skills, proven team player.
Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Ease of presenting and explaining complex information in order to persuade and influence.
Bilingualism (French-English) is essential, as you will interact regularly with colleagues in several countries.
