About the role

We are looking for a Unit Manager, Technical training to join our growing national Claims Learning& Development team.
Reporting to the Director, National Claims L&D, you will play a key role in the performance and engagement of a team of trainers responsible for delivering technical training and supporting new Claims employees.

As a leader, you will work closely with all managers of the National Claims L&D team, and contribute to technical excellence and development of Claims teams’ capabilities, while taking into account the operational realities of Quebec and Atlantic.

What you will do

  • Lead, support, and develop a team of trainers in an inclusive, motivating, and highly collaborative environment (planning, coaching, feedback, performance, skills development).

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer/quality focus in the learning experience.

  • Ensure optimal use of team capacity and contribute to priority planning.

  • Lead the rollout and evolution of onboarding and technical training pathways for new Claims hires, in partnership with other members of the national Learning & Development team.

  • Collaborate with other members of the national L&D team (Strategy, Content Creation, enablement, and other trainer teams) to ensure national consistency in approaches, while incorporating Quebec- or Atlantic-specific requirements when needed.

  • Build and implement performance indicators (KPIs, surveys, manager/learner feedback, dashboards) to continuously measure and improve training effectiveness, pathway quality, and the learner experience (relevance, engagement, satisfaction, on-the-job transfer).

  • Contribute to training projects (updates, adjustments, pilots, rollouts) by applying facilitation best practices.

What you bring

  • Minimum 4–5 years of management experience, with demonstrated ability to motivate, coach, and develop a team.

  • Strong understanding of Claims operational realities in Quebec and Atlantic, including processes, practices, and on-the-ground challenges.

  • A people-first leadership approach: you support the team with empathy, develop your people (coaching, development plans), and recognize contributions. You also provide clear feedback and address more sensitive situations quickly and respectfully.

  • Experience in technical training, including delivery and facilitation in virtual and/or hybrid environments.

  • Strong planning, organization, and logistics skills: you manage capacity, meet deadlines, and take ownership of results, even in an evolving context.

  • Strong customer and quality focus: you ensure training facilitation is clear, useful, and aligned with operational realities to deliver an exceptional onboarding experience for new employees.

  • Curiosity and continuous improvement mindset: you challenge the status quo, identify simplification opportunities, and optimize the learner experience through feedback and data.

  • Collaboration and influence: you work effectively with Operations and national L&D partners to align messaging and advance initiatives.

  • Comfort with digital tools and learning ecosystems (e.g., LMS/LXP, SharePoint, virtual classroom platforms, content design and development tools).

  • Bilingualism (French/English) is required. Need to interact on a regular basis with colleagues across the country.
