Salary for the employee will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented below is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different employee profiles. However, we encourage employees who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.

Salary range (but not limited to):

71,800 - 87,800

Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance):

7.5%

DATA SCIENTIST – Hong Kong Intact Lab

 

Calling all AI and machine learning experts!  We have a fantastic opportunity to join our team in Hong Kong. 

Artificial intelligence is shaping the future of insurance. Our latest lab is located in the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park to turn this vision into a reality. As Canada's largest home, auto and business insurer, we're here to cultivate the next generation of technology and talent. Together, we're helping our customers protect what matters to them most through the power of data science, machine learning and AI. 


What you’ll do here:  

  • Develop innovative solutions using machine learning and advanced statistics to solve business problems. 
  • Influence the AI roadmap of the biggest P&C insurer in Canada. 
  • Keep pace with new approaches and trends and use them in your own solutions. 
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary environment mixing people from data science, software engineering, actuarial science, business and design. 
  • Share knowledge with interns and other data scientists to grow, as a team 
  • All this, while keeping a good work-life balance. 

What you bring to the table: 

  • A bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, science, engineering, statistics, AI, computer science or a related field. MSc and/or PhD are an asset. 
  • Previous internship or prior experience in the field of data science, machine learning and advanced statistics solving business problems. 
  • Programming experience in languages such as Python or R as well as knowledge of software engineering best practice or a strong desire to learn it. 
  • Familiar with the underlying theory of machine learning (supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning). 
  • The commitment to be a great, collaborative teammate. 
  • Unlimited curiosity and passion to challenge the status quo. 
  • Ability to focus on vaguely defined issues requiring the application of a creative approach. 
  • Strong communication, time management and work organization skills.
