What you'll do here:
Be the technical leader who assists in identifying and defining pricing improvement opportunities and helps develop solutions using machine learning and advanced statistics.
Ensure that teams build AI systems aligned with business goals and quality expectations, considering sustainability and following best practices and internal policies.
Help achieve long-term business objectives by identifying and implementing solutions to highly uncertain problems with the utmost scientific rigor.
Influence the technical direction of the lab by making recommendations based on scientific and business outcomes.
Contribute to the strategic vision of projects within your business unit by identifying opportunities in existing processes and providing innovative solutions. Rally multiple stakeholders to this vision.
Coach and mentor senior actuaries and data scientists and act as a technical reference for management.
Validate machine learning solutions and determine their readiness for deployment in production.
Help teams maintain a high scientific standard by ensuring adherence to data science standard of practice and participating in their evolution.
What you bring to the table:
Master's degree or PhD in a relevant discipline (such as, but not limited to: mathematics, computer science, economics, statistics, physics), or any combination of equivalent education and experience, such as a strong background in actuarial sciences (e.g., FCAS).
Strong business acumen with prior experience working across multiple business units in large organizations.
Expert understanding or approximately 8 years of experience in at least one of the following areas of advanced analytics, modeling, or machine learning: pricing, predictive modeling, time series forecasting, computer vision, natural language processing including generative AI, or any other AI application relevant to insurance.
Strong skills in communication, time management, teamwork, and organization. Demonstrated ability to influence peers across teams.
Proven experience in delivering complex projects with a high level of autonomy.
The position requires programming expertise, preferably in Python and its popular libraries/frameworks such as scikit-learn, xgboost, pytorch, etc. Candidates must either show their acquired skills or demonstrate their ability to acquire them.
Ability to perform advanced data analyses using cloud-based data analytics platforms like Databricks or AWS SageMaker is a plus. More broadly, knowledge of cloud solutions such as AWS and practical experience in building solutions integrating its services is a plus.
For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country
