About the role
We’re looking for a Risk Control Data Analyst (or Sr. Risk Control Data Analyst) to join our growing team. This is a high-impact analytics role for someone who wants to strengthen how Risk Control measures performance, demonstrates value, and reduces operational risk through reliable reporting and scalable data foundations.
You’ll combine strong technical skills (SQL, Power BI, data modeling) and business judgment to spot trends early, surface actionable insights, and help leaders make better decisions. You’ll partner closely with Risk Control and stakeholders across the organization to ensure data is trusted, consistent, and easy to use.
About the role
As a Risk Control Data Analyst, you will provide advanced analytics and decision support across divisions and business units, with primary support to Risk Control. You will own and continuously improve KPI/scorecard reporting, deliver deep-dive and predictive analytics, and strengthen reporting governance.
A key part of the role is improving reliability—building documented, sustainable processes and backup capability for core reporting and executive decision support—so leaders have timely, accurate insights.
Key Responsibilities:
KPI Ownership, Scorecards & Monthly Reporting
Own production, accuracy, and continuous improvement of KPIs, scorecards, and monthly data compilation.
Create standardized definitions, documentation, and quality controls to ensure consistent reporting.
Establish redundancy/backup-ready processes to mitigate reporting continuity risk.
Power BI Development, Visualization & Governance
Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards with detailed visualizations and drill-through capability.
Maintain and enhance Power BI reporting across LC360 and workspace SharePoint environments.
Implement governance and reliability practices (dataset standards, refresh schedules, workspace organization, version control, monitoring).
Data Extraction, SQL & Data Modeling
Write and optimize SQL queries across multiple database sources to create analysis-ready datasets.
Build and maintain semantic models and curated datasets that enable self-service and consistent metrics.
Automate and streamline recurring reporting to reduce manual effort and improve timeliness.
Data Governance & Scalable “Data-First” Foundation (RC)
Improve RC data governance and infrastructure so data is structured, centralized, and scheduled.
Establish repeatable pipelines and documentation (data dictionaries, KPI logic, refresh cadence).
Enable a scalable and reliable data foundation for ongoing analytics and reporting growth.
Cross-Functional Partnership & Shared-Service Enablement
Partner with teams across CL and SL, Data Lab, Claims, and other business units to align methodologies.
Support a shared model covering both Corporate and RC priorities to maximize value across both areas.
Strategic Initiatives, ROI & Value Proposition Measurement
Support national initiatives by providing data strategy, ROI measurement, and loss savings/mitigation estimation.
Build measurement frameworks and analytics for initiatives such as Intelliroute, Farm Sentinel, snow removal program, mass prevention campaigns, emerging loss trending, extreme weather targeting, EB loss analysis, etc.
Monitor (near real-time where feasible) RC value-added benefits such as pre-bind value-add, loss avoidance, risk alerts (Level 1), and premium leakage to support RC value proposition reporting.
Required Qualifications:
Post secondary education in Data Analytics
Minimum 3 years experience delivering analytics, insights, and recommendations for leaders – is required.
Advanced SQL skills; ability to integrate data from multiple sources.
Advanced Power BI skills (data modeling, DAX, visualization, publishing, governance, refresh management).
Strong communication skills, including presenting to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Proven ability to own recurring reporting processes with high reliability and documented standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with predictive analytics, forecasting, and building leading indicators.
Experience in insurance, claims, risk control, loss prevention, or operational performance analytics.
Experience with data governance practices and building centralized, standardized datasets.
Experience partnering with analytics Data Labs and cross-functional business units.
For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
Core Competencies:
Analytical rigor and business judgment
Strong stakeholder management and collaboration
Clear, executive-ready communication and data storytelling
Ownership mindset and operational reliability focus
Continuous improvement orientation (automation, standardization, governance)
