Salary range (but not limited to):
118,700 - 145,100Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance):

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.
About the role
We’re looking for a Claims Technical Consultant, Surety, for our growing team in Montreal or Quebec City!
In this role, you will be part of one of the industry’s top-performing Claims teams. Reporting to the Claims Manager, Surety and Trade Credit Insurance, Quebec, you will be responsible for managing and analyzing complex surety claims. People will count on you to show thoroughness and attention to detail in your file analysis, particularly regarding claims eligibility and the actions needed to minimize loss for Intact while ensuring compliance with its obligations. You will work in a results-driven and highly rewarding environment, where you will contribute to meeting profitability and cycle time objectives.
NOTE: The position level will be determined based on the candidate’s skills, experience and education.
What you’ll do here:
- Analyze complex surety claims and communicate with various construction project stakeholders to effectively resolve any issues.
- Develop and build a strategy to minimize losses while respecting Intact’s obligations.
- Ensure the recovery of amounts paid by Intact.
- Coordinate the management of complex litigation files, as well as their technical and financial aspects.
- Manage all aspects of claims files, including administrative, and effectively assign specific tasks to various team members (lawyers, engineers, accountants).
- Mentor and support other team members.
- Contribute to the improvement of the claims management process.
- Document and communicate all claims activity in a timely and effective manner to support the outcome of the claims file.
- Provide regular reports to the management team.
- Work closely with the Underwriting team.
- Perform other related duties as required.
What you bring to the table:
- Post-secondary degree in law, engineering, business administration, finance or accounting.
- Ten or more years of relevant work experience.
- Professionalism, flexibility and excellent customer service.
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and thoroughness.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, particularly with key internal collaborators (underwriters, lawyers, accountants, engineers, etc.).
- Prior experience with surety claims, an asset.
- Bilingualism (French-English). You will regularly handle claims files from English-speaking customers.
- Valid Claims Adjuster licence in Commercial Lines Property and Civil Liability Insurance issued by the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF) (or in the process of obtaining it).
