Salary range (but not limited to):

138,500 - 169,300

Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance):

15%

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.


About the role

We are pleased to announce that we are seeking a Team Lead within the IntactLab!

In this role, you may be responsible for leading a small team of junior data scientists and/or actuarial analysts and/or AI developers. This role combines operational leadership and technical expertise to coordinate daily activities, implement the data science strategy, improve key processes, and support business objectives. You will be a trusted partner to management teams, ensure clear communication with stakeholders, mentor talent development, and oversee the design of models and analyses that directly contribute to product performance, customer satisfaction, and profitability.

 

What you'll do here: 

  • Provide appropriate recommendations after analyzing and interpreting reports produced by team members to improve product and service performance.

  • Manage the evaluation, development, and coaching of team members to reach the company’s strategic goals, while fostering a highly engaged workforce where employees contribute to the success of the team and the organization.

  • Coordinate your team’s activities by organizing, planning, and controlling the work.

  • Provide technical guidance to team members responsible for data science or actuarial work and studies (product rating, reserves, financial projections, contributions to regulatory requirements, natural language processing, process optimization, and other data science techniques and models).

  • Represent the data science function in various working groups/committees and act as a point of contact with other business units.

  • Participate in project-related tasks assigned by the manager and/or director.

 

What you bring to the table:

  • University degree in mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science (FCIA or FCAS is an asset), or training in machine learning, data science, or any combination of equivalent education and experience.

  • 5 years of professional experience in Data Science or Actuarial Science.

  • At least 1 year of coaching experience (experience coaching data scientists is an asset).

  • Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.

  • Lead with vision and values.

  • Ability to build strategic working relationships.

  • Develop others and promote engagement.

  • Facilitate change.

  • Bilingualism (French and English), For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.

  • No Canadian work experience required, but authorization to work in Canada is necessary
